Bohemia: Ortobrick

By Jo Phillips

Entirely in the atmosphere of this months Bohemia issue,  we highlighted an eco-friendly project named Ortobrick.  Ortobrick is a 100% organic brick created out of raw soil from Tuscany and variety of seeds like basil, parsley or Mediterranean grass. The packaging, fitting in the concept, is made from recyclable paper.

The idea is to let people produce what they eat, themselves. “Ortobrick is like a soap, if you take care of it it takes care of you. Ortobrick is like a brick: it helps you build your own nature”, says founder Tommaso Mancini. Basically through this concept, Mancini wanted to bring the relationship between people and nature closer together.
