CLASH: Cocktail of the Month

By Jo Phillips

Sauvelle was created by Olivier Carsoule and Antoine Gravouil.  They are two men who are passionate about cognac, and it was this passion that led them to create their own brand of vodka.  Pairing with their distiller Miko, they together experimented in his lab in his own home in the Cognac area of France, (where, logically enough, many cognac distillers reside). The final product is unique with regard to the intensity of its refinement, giving Sauvelle its distinct taste.  Since .Cent has monthly themes, we have decided to pair one of Sauvelle‘s cocktails with November’s theme of Clash.

The Debonair – Clash (November)

This drink is a professional serve created by Anthony Peart of The Hand & Flowers, Marlow.  Sauvelle Vodka, loose-leaf earl grey tea and peach are combined to make it.  Served in a chilled martini glass, this drink is one that clashes in the best way – the peach and the earl grey tea combined with the vodka wouldn’t normally be thought of as going together, but their opposing flavors work well together to create a balance between rich texture and floral tones.

Ingredients:

-50ml Sauvelle Vodka

-1 bar spoon looseleaf earl grey tea

-75ml Peche syrup

-25ml Peach puree

-25ml egg white

-Serve with vanilla incense stick

How to make it:

  • Loosely muddle the earl grey tea in the base of a shaker glass. Add the rest of the ingredients and cubed ice and shake hard to create a foam from the egg white.
  • Double strain into a chilled martini glass and serve with vanilla incense stick in a Sauvelle block.
