The trend that has been one of the most consistent in all of the Spring Summer 2015 womenswear shows was the colour red. The colour has never really disappeared from the runway, as designers have always adored the colour. However, the most wonderful thing about the latest season was the range of textures and shades it came in.
Antonio Berardi paired shiny pillar-box red with the softness of blush and the elegance of black.
Balmain redefined the superwoman through the color.
Barbara Casasola’s demure classics will make every woman feel comfortable in the raspberry shade she chose.
Of course, Dolce and Gabanna’s show was full of red, from the embellished, embroidered, baroque pieces to the set of the show.
Saint Laurent added dashes of the color to add femininity to his rock n’ roll pieces.
However, nobody this season did it quite like Zac Posen, who sent down several looks down the runway and ended the show with a bang; one unforgettable sculptural dress that left the audience gasping.
Why do designers go use the traffic-stopping shade season after season? Bill Blass once even said, “When in doubt, wear red”. Not only does it carry many symbolic meanings, the bold shade makes women feel confident, feminine, and powerful.
