Hot news off the press…Perfume genius Fredrick Malle has just announced a collaboration with the fashion genius that is Alber Elbaz. At a special ceremony where iconic fashion designer  was officiated as an Officier in the Légion D’Honneur in Paris, Mr Elbaz, made a special announcement – that he has been working with Frédéric Malle on a perfume that is to be released for March 2017. The perfume, named Superstitious, will be the 24th fragrance edition for Frédéric Malle and the second fragrance made with a fashion designer, following the acclaimed fragrance created with Dries Van Noten in 2013.  Frédéric Malle and Alber Elbaz worked with perfumer Dominique Ropion to create Superstitious.

Monsieur Elbaz commented “The word ‘Superstitious’ was the starting point of it all, something we agreed upon immediately. We are both superstitious”, said Alber Elbaz. “It’s not about a collaboration, it’s about friendship and respect.”  With Frédéric Malle adding  “I have always admired Alber for making the women who wear his clothes appear even more beautiful. It is all about them and not about himself,  Like perfume ‘Classics’, Alber’s dresses are the result of an invisible architecture. Like Alber’s dresses, Superstitious elevates the women that wear it, it empowers them.”

Frederic Malle describes himself as an “editor of perfumes”  as he brings in noses to each scent and   gives free range in order to create fragrances without commercial boundaries.    The earliest edition was created in 1999 and the newest is from 2016. Collaborations with the best perfumers include Jean-Claude Ellena, Dominique Ropion, Maurice Roucel, Bruno Jovanovic, Carlos Benaim, Olivia Giacobetti, Pierre Bourdon, Edmond Roudnitska, Ralf Schwieger, Edouard Flechier, Michel Roudnitska and Sophia Grojsman. His brand is legendary in the fragrance industry,  and is created as beginning the trend in niche perfumes.

Alber Elbaz  is a Moroccan – Israeli fashion designer who is very much known for his work for Paris fashion house Lavin where he worked from 2001 until October 2015. He  has been credited with totally rejuvenating the house.
