Juxtaposed: These Prints are on Fire

By Jo Phillips

When the worlds of design, fashion, perfume and candles collide, you might not be sure what to expect.  When they’re launched by designers like Frederic Malle and Mary Katrantzou however, you can be sure of some pretty tasteful end results.   This is exactly what you get with these two fabulous collaborations by Frederic Malle for Liberty, and Mary Katrantzou for Rodial respectively.

Le Parfum de Therese

To celebrate Frederic Malle’s 5th anniversary of working with Liberty London, the designer decided to use synesthesia (linking fragrance with colour) as the process behind choosing which of the numerous prints in Liberty’s 140 year old archives would best illustrate each of the perfumes in the collection, as though each design had been done specifically for that fragrance. The eye-catching range launches exclusively in Liberty today (Wednesday 20 Nov).

Meanwhile, celebrating the fruits of her first foray into lifestyle designing, is fashion maestro Mary Katrantzou. Teaming up with uber lifestyle brand Rodial, Katrantzou developed a luxurious, limited edition candle encased with her fabulous “Babelle” kaleidoscopic print to set fashionista’s hearts alight.
