High street fashion: statement pieces for winter 2017

With a new season comes a whole new collection of statement pieces you need to consider picking up – to refresh what you already have or add to your growing wardrobe. Here are the pieces you need to pick up ready for winter 2017/2018:

A good pair of boots

These will be one of your best investments for these colder months. They can be worn in almost any condition – wear thick socks with them for those really cold days – and finding stylish and functional boots these days is pretty easy. Opt for some smart Chelsea boots or if you really want to go all out this winter, some thick snow boots. Mix and match these styles with your everyday outfits to change up your look in an instant.

A strong parka jacket

From days in the office to shopping trips with the girls, women’s parka coatswill see you through whatever you have planned. A parka jacket speaks for itself, meaning it can be worn with any low key outfit – such as jeans and a casual jumper for an instant style update or worn over your favourite work attire.

The knitwear piece for layering

This goes without saying for the winter, but you can’t have all your winter wardrobe essentials without including a hoodie. Chunky oversized jumpers or hoodies are the best choice for the season ahead and turtlenecks are also creeping back in for winter. Throw any of these over your favourite long sleeved top, a pair of skinny jeans and knee high boots and you have the perfect winter look.

The oversized scarf

Blanket scarfs are a go-to for the whole of winter. Drape a cosy, long scarf around your neck whilst outside or wrap it around your whole body for those colder days in the office.

The throw-on hat

The infamous pompom beanie can come back out! Super trendy and a great way to keep your head warm, they are just as practical as they are cute. Newly hitting the high streets this season are wool floppy hats, not a style for everyone but check it out and try one on for size.

The quality pair of tights

This is more of a necessity than you think. Spanx tights are highly recommended as they also work as shapewear, but for colder days knitted wool tights are the best choice and come in a variety of shades to match whatever outfit you’ve pulled together.

The digit saving gloves

Your fingers will freeze during the winter, so you need a good pair of gloves. But get a tech-friendly design so you are still able to access your phone in the cold. You can keep a pair at work and by your front door. Get yourself a pair that will complement any outfit – darker, neutral shades are the best option.

Now you’ve had your dose of statement style inspiration it’s time to give your wardrobe a top up. Go on, we won’t tell.
