The Shard – currently the tallest building in Europe – was always an arrogant tower I swore never to climb. Until Monday this week, after my best friends knowing that they can always blackmail me with dance and music made me come to a special event up there: the silent disco hosted by The View from the Shard and sponsored by Time Out.
So there I was. Ready to climb and ready to dance in silence.
We took the lift up to the 72nd floor. Excited and a bit nervous I put my headphones on and then it was all up with me. Encouraged by the beats of my favourite songs I entered the dance floor realising that I just came so many steps closer to what people call heaven.
Never before I have become so clear that I live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. No words and no photos do the view from the Shard justice – you have to go and see for yourself.
After three hours of solid dancing and losing myself in the music (three DJs put on three different sets) we left the Shard. And I might have come down to earth again but I will never forget that I partied the night away at the top of the world.
The silent disco on The View from the Shard runs from March 1 until April 1 2014. Followed by the silent disco at the Altitude London at Millbank Tower on April 3, for £29 per person.
Tickets can be ordered via Time Out.
