Woven; Boudoir de Marc

By Jo Phillips

I am the star of my own show… I make myself a star in my very own boudoir, my lush rouge velvet womb of delightful ladylike trickery; as red as my heart and trimmed in gilt.
A place where my red velvet stool is my pedestal and where the magic happens in the reflection of my former self echoed by the mirror back at the new me; the me of today.

Firstly my base, creamy-textured, fine and almost elastic so that it never cracks to reveal what I want to remain hidden. The perfect light mask to hide yet still expose what I choose to bare. It’s my Marc Jacobs. Re(marc)able Full Cover Foundation Concentrate in Bisque Light A patented golden mica gives my complexion a radiant, natural glow. The pigments are wrapped in lecithin that gives the illusion of skin so that I never look fake; I just draw people towards the dazzling pallor that is my skin.

Next my eyes, of course my eyes: they are, as we know the window to my soul, but they are also the mechanism I have to gaze back out to the world. They must draw in and dazzle out. Magic Marc’er Precision Pen Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner is where I start drawing people in, a liner inspired by a calligraphy pen, long-lasting and never dry or crumbly; any tears needed during the outing are safe and will not run black against my alabaster skin.  And now, to dress the lids with full lustre, I need my leopard-cased limited edition eye-conic Frost Eye Palette.  Here are the tones from nude to darkest rusts, chocolates and greys which help me create the facets needed to mesmerise. I can see the world but also the world sees me. To warm my cheeks and set off my jawline I need my Air Blush SoftGlow Duo, with my chosen ‘flavour’ being Lush and Libido of course. The two tones in the case merge together so I can customise my colour shade and ensure that the cheeks are as sharp as a cheese-cutter. Angular and softly warm all at the same time.

And now, my lips. I need to indulge these pillows with rich colour ripe for kissing, because it all comes down to kissing after all. Again, I dip into my bag of Leopard Frost and pull from it Le Marc Lip Frost lipstick called cher-ished – a frosted metallic, earthy red shimmer which enriches my lips whilst adding ultimate desire. They look, they stare, they desire but can’t touch… or maybe?

Now for that final flutter of the black butterflies that are my eyelashes, extended by O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara. Essential oils for deeply conditioned lashes, with vitamins B5 and C to strengthen and hold them in place for longer wear and never ending flutters to flit and flirt via my lids around the room.

I’m ready to finish with warmth. A warm reflection of the heat in my heart and soul. Dusted lightly with my golden highlighter O!Mega Glaze All-Over Foil Luminizer. The final light touch to add a shimmer as glowing as my aura.

Ready, lights action. Let the play begin because tomorrow is another act.
