Modigliani: A painter and his dealer by Flammarion / Orangerie Museum When in 1914, Amedeo Modigliani met the merchant Paul Guillaume, in the heart of cosmopolitan Paris, he was at a pivotal moment in his career. He abandoned sculpture to devote himself exclusively to painting.
This work aims to explore the links between the two men in the Parisian artistic and literary context of the 1910s, their common love for African arts, as well as the determining role of Paul Guillaume in the diffusion of Modigliani’s work on the art market in France and in the United States in the aftermath of the artist’s death.
