The entire town of Derry-Londonderry will transform into an art gallery over the four magical evenings this winter with Lumiere Light Festival.
Organised by Artichoke, the creative company, and taking place over four nights from 28th November until 1st December, Lumiere will turn familiar city landmarks, buildings, hidden spaces, parks and waterways into real artworks made from light.
Commissioned by Culture Company, Lumiere is planned to be a final celebration for the UK’s first City of Culture. Presenting works of three international artists – French Fire Alchemists Compagnie Carabosse, digital mapping specialists Ocubo from Portugal and the Paris-based Irish artist duo Cleary Conolly, as well as the projects of winners of the BRILLIANT competition living originally in Northern Ireland, the festival will surely be a spectacular and beautiful event.
Neon baloon dogs, an interactive forest, a fire garden and a dreamworld created by Derry schoolchildren are also amongst the attractions.
Lumiere will take place over four nights from 28th November until 1st December in Derry-Londonderry. For more information visit the Lumiere’s website. To find out more about other events taking place in Derry-Londonderry, the City of Culture, visit its website.
