Mineral; in Colour
By Jo Phillips
Minerals have been one of the basic elements for makeup since the ancient Egyptians. Most well known would be the iconic eyeliner look of the Egyptians which used powdered Kohl to rim the eyes to protect from the sun and used an eye disinfectant.
Mineral makeup possesses a natural texture that breathes with your skin, allowing your true beauty to shine through. It’s versatility and range of colours creates unique compositions that emphasise your eyes, lips, and face. It’s long life span and chameleon-like characteristics have been essential in expanding what makeup is capable of.
Makeup has been used to complement your beauty, used for health benefits, or used as an outlet for pure artistry. Makeup master Terry Barber took advantage of this and let loose with his paint brush, while renowned photographer Marc Beaussart beautifully captured the master at work on the best canvas which is skin.
