London Design Festival Day 1
By Jo Phillips
Well day one went off to a good start with myself mainly staying around the Islington Design District and the West End Design District i have blisters on my feet from all the walking i did !
There is so much good design going on if you get a chance really do try to check out this years London Design Festival.
The highlights for me were the opening of Library a new private members club aimed at creative types designed by Marc Peredis of 19 Greek St fame . It is full of fabulous one off pieces of furniture and looks beautiful it reminds me of a cooler version of a old school St James type of members club. There is a growing trend of super stylish venues filled with art pieces and designer furniture .
Talking about stylish venues i popped into Sketch in Mayfair to check out the new collection of lighting by Reiner Bosch and Caroline Wilcke which is part of Sketch’s celebration of the 2014 Design Festival . The collection is called ‘Ancestors’ , and each piece is one-off and bespoke . A variety of materials have been used – From copper sheet, to a lamp made from 30,000 Swarovski crystals .
The installation will be up for 2 months and all works are for sale.
