Yet another fashion week that arrives quicker than expected. With my four cameras in hand, I jump from bus to bus, to shows and presentations, alongside the amazing .Cent team I have the pleasure to experience fashion week with these last seasons.
For this season, I packed my bag with a Canon DSLR, an old camcorder, Polaroid and film camera, a few protein bars and lipsticks. Four days of my eyes always on a scout for beautiful details or accidental visual compositions that would express the visual narrative we’re exploring.
My Polaroids
I have the best time documenting how fashion week truthfully unfolds, as people react in so many ways to the new collections, as old friends bump into each other, and as journalists interview people outside.
Overall, I intend to share the joy and passion which is felt during that long weekend, and how the industry comes together to celebrate fashion and upcoming designers.
On another hand, I do believe this season was quite an introspective one if I may, as I reflected on the future of fashion.
How the meaning of having a show and the reasons to have one may have changed with time, but also the pressure of the current economy for brands, and to make a collection every 6 months.
As a photographer and documenter, I think we have this outside point of view as we’re here to encapsulate the glimpse of moments in front of us. From a catwalk photographer to a street style one, if you’ve done multiple seasons you will be able to feel the nuances and changes.
There is nothing quite like an intimate moment caught by the flash of a camera. Personal and exclusive and ultimately seen through the eyes of whoever took the images.
