The rose is, after all, the queen of all flowers, here delicate caressing petals belie the pungent aromatic waft we are exposed to. So important is this flower that there is even a colour name after it, Rose as in Rosey pink or in French is simply called Rose. The original perfume Miss Dior was named after the designer’s sister and was sprayed at the atelier just before his first-ever show. This meant as women entered the house they walked through a cloud of this dremy scent. Fast forward to 2005 and the legendary fragrance was updated by Christine Nagel as a flanker to the original Miss Dior. After all the original perfume was at the height of fashion when it launched but the 2005 new version brought it back to being a vibrant new version ahead of its game for a new generation.
In 2011 again it was updated by François Demachy in-house perfumer, at Dior. It opens with a rush of soft spice and citrus with Pink Pepper, Blood Orange, Sweet Orange, Mandarin Orange, Calabrian Bergamot and Lemon, bringing a zippy zesty powerful top. Its heart however is an ode to florals with two Roses Grasse Rose, and Damask Rose alongside Jasmine Leaf. This elixir marries at the base with dark damp woods of Patchouli and Palisander Rosewood.
At the heart of this composition is an elegant floral, with dominant notes of Roses, the Damask Rose and the May Rose from Grasse, to be precise. A much-loved floral cocoon can now be explored in bathing and wellness rituals.
This new collection sees the floral notes meld into a delicious exfoliating Body Oil with Rose extract, the indulgent Shower Gel with Rose water and the comforting Body Milk with rose wax.
Now more than ever with the stresses and strains of our lives a little bit of me time is more important than ever. Spa prices are often out of reach but the spa home experience is an absolute in these times.
Start with the Exfoliating Body Oil with rose, a gentle exfoliation with an Oil with Rose extract. Its sensorial texture with a rosy pink hue provides a delectable moment of pleasure. With 83% natural origin ingredients, enriched with rose extract, it leaves the skin soft and radiant. If you have never been down the oil route this is a must-try. Like a two-in-one treatment, it removes rough dry skin whilst leaving the body glowing and nutured.
Next in your home spa regime is the Indulgent Shower Gel with rose water. After the exfoliation, the Indulgent Shower Gel imbues the ritual with its full freshness. Its luscious texture in translucent pink, transforms on contact with water into a silky foam that is a delight to apply, subtly scented with the notes of Miss Dior its hue of pink is a happiness boost.
And the final step in the ritual? Using the Comforting Body Milk with rose wax reveals a soft, lightweight texture that is absorbed by the skin in a single stroke. With a formula enriched with rose wax and 93% natural origin ingredients, this lotion nourishes moisturises, and enhances the skin. We know moisture skin holds scent for longer so finish off the spa with a touch of Miss Dior, sprayed at the nape or inside the wrists, to maintain the scent all day long
For an additional boost of happiness, their bottles are an ode to the colour of the iconic rose pink. Their cubed shapes can be stacked to brighten up the bathroom space. While the Shower Gel appears in a translucent version, the exfoliating Body Oil reveals a gourmand twist, and the comforting Body Milk conveys a creamy softness.
The rose bathroom collection is a perfect home spa set, a pleasure ritual for body mind and spirit. After all, when creating the original scent Monsieur Dior asked the nose Paul Vacher in 1947
“Make me a perfume that smells like love”
Christian Dior
So now let’s take that thought and bring it up to date in 2024 ‘let’s have a perfume that smells like self-love.
