Lucy Cheung
By Jo Phillips
Lucy Cheung is an artist based in Brighton, UK. She is particularly interested in masks, costumes, shamanism, ritual, ancient traditions, the occult, primitivism, body art, anthropomorphic ceramics, art brut, jellyfish, superstition, bright colours and dark things. She has been recognised by Patrick Gildersleeves as a Breaking Boundaries talent and, thus, invited to join the Breaking Boundaries Directory.
Lucy is featured in the May 2013 edition of .Cent’s Breaking Boundaries newsletter, for which she shared insights as to whether she starts with design or material in her creative process.
‘Materials,’ she answers, ‘usually paper – the design comes from playing around with interesting shapes and forms. It’s quite an organic process.’
