Marc Jacobs
By Jo Phillips
Karl Aberg, the designer behind the helm of Marc Jacob’s menswear lines, was inspired by Palm Springs flamingoes and the Beverly Hills hotel. It was very much 1970′s glam. Think pink polyester pant-suits, honeycomb prints, and glistening caramel-colored accessories that sharpened the outfits. The flamingo motif kept reoccurring in the shirts, jackets, and slippers. The designer collaborated with Brooklyn-based graphic designer Bast who created deconstructed, cubist, featureless face illustrations on the garments.
