For the driver of a new perfume, the creative from the brand needs to be more than an ideas person they need to understand not just ingredients but how these may create magic in a bottle.
A great creative director of a perfume company needs to know that it’s more than a ‘splash of this and that’ but sometimes a real leftfield ingredient that brings a truly unique and magical elixir to life. To get a new and unique elixir to the market a creator needs to understand not just different ingredients but also how they may well affect each other.
For example, a Rose perfume can smell ‘pretty’ but surround that rose with either elements that are a ‘sympathetic scent or even the opposite and magic happens. That is why the driver must understand ingredients in order to sum up a brief for the nose and then be able to confidently work, alongside the ‘nose’, in this case Sophie Labbé with Christoper Chong to produce magic.
Christopher of the scent house Thameen London is exactly that; a magician. One with the deep knowledge that goes with out-of-the-box thinking, and it’s this that makes him so special. The latest launch uniquely for Harrods is just that. Another masterpiece of magic. It comes with a cheeky wink of the eye from Christopher and a depth of lingering deliciousness.
Not Telling by Thameen London is all about a little secret Sophie and Christopher shared. No one besides the two seems privileged enough to know the secret but what is known is that the scent is a long-lasting Floral Fruity Gourmand fragrance for women and men. And as we expect defies expectations.

A luscious opening with watery Coconut alongside the brightness of Citrus from Mandarin Orange and fruity juicy Peach. But the fragrance melds and comes really alive and active in its heart with ‘gemstones’ of the floral world of Lily, Ylang Ylang and Tuberose. To balance yet ensure longevity the balance in its base brings Vanilla Tonka Bean for a subtle sweetness, soft wood of sandalwood and earthy, sweet, animalic, musky and radiance with Ambergris.
As big and bright as the jewel Alexis Carrington wore on Dynasty this is no shrinking violet; think flashy colours and warrior women. And neither is it meant to be. It is carnal yet sensual, powerful with a modern take on nostalgia. One of the core promises made by Christopher is that this scent will have projection and longevity. And it does. This is where the craft sits with real technical understanding.
