Solange Transports Light, Laughter, and ‘Lickables’ to the Jewellery Bureau.
By Jo Phillips
When we think of high jewellery we often think of it with a sense of reverence. Precious sparkling diamonds; rare, so they must be held up with a sense of awe. But what is wrong with approaching it with humour, after all, if we wear these pieces daily or at least often surely we should enjoy them with a sense of abandonment, with joy and lightness not in fear. They will of course still shine beyond bright. Nobody brings lightness laughter irreverence and even ‘lickable’ colours to this world better than Solange Azagury-Partridge, find out about her new stunning collection here. Solange Transports Light, Laughter, and ‘Lickables’ to the Jewellery Bureau..
British designer Solange Azagury-Partridge is known for her jewellery and interiors that come together with her wonderful imaginative fun, and even eccentric works. Think of rainbow-coloured lip rings in enamel, rings of scribbled words, fringed diamonds, and even kinetic pieces.
Historical narratives alongside scenic, stories, artistic buildings, nature, maths, liter her tableau; emotive, diverse, and very colourful. Her works span from fine cut stones to lacquer via enamel as for her they have the same value. The value is not the price but the feelings that come with each piece; from her to the wearer.
‘I love color-saturated precious gems, as well as hardstones. It’s all about the color and hue for me’.

As a creator sometimes she lets the stones themselves speak to her other times ideas are so vivid that the correct stones need to be found to bring pieces from ideas into real life. But ideas can come to her, fully formed or just as hints. Ideas are of course her raison d’etre.
Her work is not easy to define and that is probably why her eclectic mix has so many fans. Her latest collection sings praise to this idea having been called, The Standalones, misfits, and individuals.
Often pieces that become the real star are standalone pieces in a collection that are truly individual pieces. So, what if a whole collection was about one-off concepts? Don’t ‘box me’ in they cry out, let me be revealed. And that really the heart of Solange’s new collection.
