The Fashion of Collaboration
By Rebecca McNelly-Tilford
For October, our theme is Union. We’re focusing on community, collaboration, and the power of coming together to create something unique. In the fashion world, this means highlighting creatives who have partnered to produce limited-edition collections that blend their distinctive styles and aesthetics while still honouring the essence of both brands. Crocs and Dingyun Zhang
The collaboration between Crocs and Dingyun Zhang was previewed exclusively at Paris Fashion Week in September. The partnership creates a bold statement piece in a white colourway that perfectly blends Crocs’ DNA with Ding’s unique vision, creating a modern and aerodynamic take on footwear.
The Dingyun Zhang x Crocs collaboration will launch in December 2024 via Crocs online and Dingyun Zhang’s official site.
David Koma and DAB Motors
The Spring Summer collection from David Koma embodies the vibe of freedom and liberation. With this idea in mind, a special collaboration with DAB Motors and David Koma was created. The French electric motorcycle brand unites luxury design, technology, and sustainability. The merge features three exclusive motorbike colourways. The limited-edition bikes are available for pre-order now on dabmotors.com
This collaboration was part of the zodiac-inspired ‘Les Desastreuses’ collection. Alongside the collection that showed 24 looks Kevin Germainer created a sculptural dress made completely out of Havaianas flip-flops. Combining these two brands shows a reinterpretation of icon flip-flops, merging the minimalism of summer shoes and the bold vision of Germainer.
In a series of chapters, this collaboration combines Beyoncé’s approach to art and culture and the iconic Americana lifestyle of Levi’s. The first film — inspired by “Launderette,” the 1985 ad that famously reignited “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” on the Billboard.
“My song ‘LEVII’S JEANS’ celebrates what I believe is the ultimate Americana uniform — something we all wear with pride,” said Beyoncé.
Heaven by Marc Jacobs x Dilara Findikoglu
Turkish-British designer Dilara Findikoglu joined forces with Marc Jacobs brand Heaven. This collection creates pieces that are filled with pop-punk throwback looks at a lower price point for both powerhouses.
With her childhood and younger lifestyle at heart, this collection’s pieces are inspired by bands of her youth. This results in leather textures and t-shirts held together by safety pins, overall giving the collaboration a ‘gothic lolita’ feel.
This limited-edition capsule collaboration examines Mulberry’s overall British DNA through the eyes of South Korean designer Rejina Pyo. This vision is timeless and contemporary, in an autumnal colour palette. Designed with easy elegance and versatility in mind.
“When I collaborate with someone, it’s important for me to consider what they value, what they bring to the world, and how they treat people. The timeless design and Made to Last ethos really resonated with me. Mulberry creates pieces you want to cherish and treasure for a long time, it’s that essence that I always aim to imbue in my own brand.” – Rejina Pyo
Maison Bent recently joined HURR. With sustainability always at the heart of the Maison Bent brand, this partnership is a natural progression. Hurr being the UK’s largest platform for fashion rental, Maison Bent has joined the line-up, allowing everyone to experience the brand’s elegant designs while keeping sustainability at the forefront.
“We’re thrilled to continue to partner with HURR to bring our collection to an even wider audience. Renting our pieces allows customers to embrace fashion in a way that’s sustainable and versatile, without the commitment of ownership.” – Shanna Bent
