Paris based photographer Nathalie Baetens, captures something most artists find hard to do. There is an element of uncertainty to her work; mystery, voyeurism, secrecy. Elegance is another aspect to her work which she achieves so well in her use of limited colour palettes and eery scenery. It’s almost like a cold filter has been applied to each of her images creating this clean and minimal atmosphere through the photo.
In some of her photos, I also think she connects this idea of a dream-like scene with the use of lighting and blurring. Her style is clearly very documentary but also with an eye for the aesthetics within the frame. Her subtle observations create such a powerful impact.
