By Catarina Wilk
Seventeenth-century Flemish Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens, a genie of his time and well-known for his Counter-Reformation altarpieces, famous landscape paintings, portraits and mythological paintings, would be delighted to see what visual artist Inga Krymskaya made out of his famous painting ‘The Feast of Venus’.
Peter Paul Rubens. The Feast of Venus. 1635.
The female contemporary visual artist totally revamped Rubens’ masterpiece and also encourages other artists to follow her path. By launching her project ‘3045 Variations on The Feast of Venus’, Krymskaya’s work shows her absolute fascination for Rubens’ masterpiece.
The artist has come up with an impressive amount of over 80 variations of the painting and each interprets the painting in a very different way. On top, her project aims in encouraging other artists to follow her path.
Krymskaya will be showing six variations which will be exhibited at the Hay Hill Gallery in London until Wednesday 16 December.
