– John Mayer; American songwriter
“Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend.”
– Theophrastus; philosopher
“A gentleman’s choice of timepiece says as much about him as does his Savile row suit”
– Ian Fleming; writer
“Time is endless in thy hands, my lord. There is none to count thy minutes”
– Rabindranath Tagore; philosopher
For so many of us, one of the most respected feared and loved phenomena in the universe is time. Indeed it may well give a sense of pride and strength to wrap it around your wrist, feeling that it’s completely yours to cherish.
When we keep checking the time, shouldn’t it be on something drop-dead gorgeous to look at? A magnificent watch after all is a beautiful thing. Some watches tell you the time and some watches, tell you the time the date and even the weather.
Whether you choose your timepiece as an accessory or a fashion statement, or you choose it as a shadow of your personality or even as a symbol of success; ultimately it is because you love it. For each individual, owning and wearing a watch has a different meaning and purpose to it. Tick……tock…..tick…..tock……this simple sound of clicking (mainly in silence), accompanies us whatever the time or place. Time is of course, always with us.
Over the years, watches have seen an evolution in unexpected ways, surprising us and redefining the art of watch-making. From analogue to mechanical, to solar via kinetic and even quartz watches, choosing an automatic to digital watch or even a smart-watch, individuals have such a big platter to choose from.
Alongside styles like chronograph, diving, military, pilot, aviator and smart-watches the choice of styling is immense. Men or women, any classic or a contemporary timepiece on the wrist may well give an interesting insight into the wears personality.
