Weave: Blurry Brilliance
By Jo Phillips
As a Beauty Editor, Makeup Artist, and all round general Beauty Junkie, I’m constantly being asked (and on my own quest too) how to get great skin, what the new technological advances are, what new tricks are out there and what’s key to achieving the glow. That magical, and attainable idea of flawless, glowing, beautiful skin. We all dream of it, we all spend rather a large proportion of our pay packets on trying to achieve it – believing in the hype. Yes, it suckers us all, even me.
What I’m currently enjoying, is the fantastic array of “Blur Creams” which have hit the market, and giving photoshop a run for its money. How they work is by altering the way the skin reflects, so your skin is “blurred” or hazy, which therefore makes the skin appear more perfected than it really is. Here’s my edit of the best 8 blurrers around:
Elemis Pro Radiance Flash Balm – an oldie but a greatie. This is a hybrid moisturiser, flattering the skin by illuminating and giving radiance, as well as adding a good dose of moisture.
Lancome Visionnaire – This is a must-have. I repeat. You must have it. Instant face greatness. It appears to have somehow created real-life photoshop in its formula.
Kiehl’s new Micro Blur Skin Perfector has got the beauty world ablaze with its results. Lovely and light, this cream gets rid of pores with its bark extract and lipo-hydroxy acid ingredients.
Benefit Porefessional – This is a much loved staple across the UK, and for good reason – it works. Reduces the appearance of pores and leaves your skin smooth.
Dior Totale Capture Dream Skin – Creates a lovely flawless base initially but is a real long term worker and could be a threat to foundations for what it achieves on the skin. The ingredients are a closely guarded secret, and for good reason.
Nanoblur – One of the main best-sellers in the skincare market for its ability to make skin look and feel flawless. Your skin feels like velvet and looks smoother than a baby’s derriere after application.
Estee Lauder Perfectionist – Another innovator like Lancome, this little tube uses some seriously powerful ” Photonic Optics” to create fresh and bright looking skin. Almost as though you’ve been airbrushed, dewrinkled and smoothed out – without surgery, or the airbrush.
Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow is really the ‘ronseal ‘of wondrous glows. Simply apply, et voila! your face is a vision of loveliness. We really rate this – the soft focus particles in the formulation definitely work.
The important thing to remember with these is that they are for the short term effect, so yes you do still have to eat well, sleep well and drink plenty of water. Sorry guys, there aren’t many shortcuts to long-term goddess results, but these will do nicely.
