Word Up

 “Word up” is a slang phrase used to agree with a statement or to simply mean I agree. Made famous from the song Word Pp by the American funk band Cameo in 1986. The use of means slogans and slang is as powerful now as it ever was, now appearing on the cover of a new pink gin bottle

The song’s frequent airing on American dance and R&B radio with the lead singer who formed the band Larry Blackmon wearing, most startling at the time, a red codpiece in the video.

Phrases, slang and memes like these have huge power, as language constantly evolves and changes. New words coming out of this form of communication become ingrained into modern parlance so much so that the Oxford English dictionary adds at least one new word to the book each year.

Both bottles are bursting with natural fruity flavours; balancing the refreshing juniper taste of Gordon’s with the natural sweetness of raspberries and strawberries, with a tang of redcurrant.

GORDON’S PINK PALOMA RECIPE

Gordon’s Pink Paloma (Units per drink: 1.9) Ingredients & Preparation:

50ml Gordon’s Premium Pink Distilled Gin*

150ml Pink Grapefruit Soda

Garnish: Pink Grapefruit Wedge

Optional garnish: flaky sea salt rim

For Maya’s Twist: Mix in 20ml sugar

Use a wedge of grapefruit to run across the rim of a highball glass

Roll the edge of the glass in a plate of salt

Add both ingredients to the glass filled with ice

Stir to mix syrup and 10ml lime juice

Garnish with pink grapefruit.
