Now that the sun is out, weather is improving, and your summer wardrobe gets a look-in, you may still have reservations about going bare-faced despite all the beauty pro’s telling us that the super sheer skin is the way forward for the season.
A product we cannot live without here at .Cent is that of the worthy concealer. Not just for our under-eye area, but generally to conceal any of those pesky unwanted blemishes, uneven skin tone, tattoos, grazes and dare I say *age-spots…* We spoke to a select of some of the top make-up artists in the UK to get their views on the best concealers around at this moment, so you can achieve the look of barely there skin without really going bare.
Kate Tighe loves the Studio Finish SPF 35 by MAC for its high level of pigment. She says “it’s a super light concealer, both long wearing and water resistant and really does cover everything from dark circles to tattoos.”
Kevyn Aucoin’s Sensual Skin Enhancers are a must for A-List mua Jo Adams. “These are a game-changer, especially for darker skin-tones to lift discolouration and for contouring. They work like a dream and I have yet to find a client who does not love them.”
LA born, but now over this side of the pond, make-up artist Mariam Jensen advised us on the ease of using the Radiant Creamy Concealer range from Nars. “These are perfect for both pro makeup artists and consumers alike; with a fresh, dewy finish, they tick all the trend boxes and still give great coverage for all skin-tones too.”
Laura Mercier’s Secret Camouflage concealer is the brand of choice for International Fashion Week stalwart Laura Forrest. She told us; “…being able to mix the two shades is a godsend for artists to create bespoke colour per client, as well as the fact that it’s oil free and pretty budge-proof once its on. Brilliant for all weathers and the range is infused with vitamins A and E – encouraging elasticity.”
Estee Lauder’s Maximum cover is a highly recommended item says Rebecca McMahon: “I love to use this buffed over any blemishes or discolouration. It’s a gorgeous product to add to moisturiser for a sheer effect foundation as well.”
Some other brilliant ones we’ve been trialling here in the office is the excellent Cream Concealer from Cover FX and Vichy’s Dermablend Corrective Stick, – You may remember Zombie Boy’s appearance in the Gaga video a few years back – well if ever there was proof that it could cover everything including tattoos; this is the brand for you:

Hope you enjoy these and get your cover without being covered.
