Jackie Parsons
By Jo Phillips
Jackie Parsons is an illustrator. He was featured in the Breaking Boundaries Newsletter in January 2013, in which he explained if inspiration leads the way, where would he go with his.
‘My inspiration starts with very small, almost insignificant things,’ he explains. ‘A couple of interesting words or phrases snipped out of old book, which may suggest other meanings when edited out. A small part of a found photo, ie some feet, or a person passing in the background. A snippet of texture from an old dressmakers pattern. Just small things. I take these little edits as a starting point, then move forward. Then it’s a process of complimenting or eliminating those elements.. until things start to make connections and interact, then new meanings are born.’
