My Summer Love

By Jo Phillips

As Roy Ayres so rightly sang Everybody Loves The Sunshine. And why not. This doesn’t mean being a sun worshiper but there is a simple pleasure in feeling the heat, light, and power of the sun’s rays on your skin. Most of us would agree that a day out is only added to when the sunshine joins us. We have over the next few weeks got some much-needed sunshine coming so, My summer Love will give you a little help in the heat inspired, sand through your toes holiday feeling heat whilst indulging in a little retail therapy.

In these most strange of times many of us have missed out on our usual trip abroad for the annual summer break, but needs must so a day trip (or weekend) out must suffice. Part of any holiday is getting the appropriate wardrobe ready part of that build-up, anticipation of our annual break.

We want to be dressed light airy easy clothes that are chic as well as being a joy to wear in the heat.  So how about seeing as we can’t really go to many places we take a day trip that includes food and shopping in a desirable location. What goes better than a day out with a little retail therapy a spot of lunch all outdoors for a feeling safety to boot? How about a train ride to Bicester village (or car) to evoke a bit of holiday feeling whilst getting yourself some bargains as an added bonus? Sounds good.

Barefoot Chic is the newest pop-up at the shopping destination, designed to evoke the essence of a shimmering summer. The store has been created with soft pastel hues, dusky pinks, and gold fixtures reminiscent of that silky sand of golden beaches of soft sands running through your toes from that barefoot on the beach feeling.

Calling to mind the sun-saturated beaches of Tulum in Mexico, the summer pop-up, with its basket-fronted façade, rattan furnishings, offers instant escapism not to mention all the inspiration needed to perfect an easy, breezy summer outfit.

Designers some of which join Bicester Village for the first time include:- Cubitts, (for those all-important sunglasses) Alvaro, Heidi Klein, Erdem, Mary Katrantzou, Sophia Webster accessories alongside the wonderfully colourful pieces by Mira Mikati. Goldsmith’s collection of Loquet jewellery is available to create your own bespoke charm necklaces. Oh and in order to be even more prepared luggage company GlobeTrotter also joins in.

But this clever little sanctuary also offers the scent and taste of summer with Rosé wines by Whispering Angel, fragranced candles from both Cire Trudon and Anya Hindmarsh.

And because our beauty needs are just as important divine skincare brand brands Votary joins with their high-performance plant-powered products.

Also, adding to the summer love, some of the collections are in fact current season so buyers can delve into up to the minute pieces at great prices.

And for the final touch, The Barefoot Chic summer pop-up will also be exhibiting a limited selection of artwork by renowned fashion illustrator Anjelica Roselyn.   They will be adding other labels to the shop so do keep an eye out.

It’s also worth mentioning the village has careful health and safety checks in place with shoppers’ temperature taken before entering the village. Some shops offer a booking in service via mobile phones in order to stop queueing and to make it a very smooth and effortless experience.

It’s also good to note that many of the stores have spring summer 20 collections on sale and extra bargains with flash sales and reduction so bargains built on bargains all gathered together within the elegant village experience. Don’t forget there are options for food both inside and out plenty of ultra-clean loos and benches up and down the plant-filled winding garden-like path.
