Aphrodite Bottled
By Millie Winter
Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, beauty, and sex; all the heavenly aspects that live and thrive on this planet. Through her, universal love was born. She was brought through the heavens and through her birth, brought about the cravings of sexual desire. Today, we celebrate her spirit through elements of the earth that exude only the highest and most vigorous levels of desire. Aphrodite Bottled explores the gender-fluid perfumery paying homage to the goddess of love.
We dress our delicate skin with a scent to be enjoyed by the passerby, or for our loved ones but maybe most of all for ourselves. We thoroughly search for the best scents that allow us to be our very best selves.
Meet a new collection of perfumes, Urania’s Children & The Havenly Garden. Aphrodisiac fragrances arouse sexual instinct by increasing desire, pleasure, and performance. They paint the image of the energy we release. The name derived from Aphrodite herself.
Winder Ton created his own mystical world of perfumery with scents that pay tribute to the existence of such beauty, Urania’s Children & The Havenly Garden consist of three perfumes that excite the senses through the use of aphrodisiac ingredients. Each scent has been carefully collected based on its aphrodisiac abilities.
‘The fragrances are made of essential oils and naturally derived raw materials distilled in Grasse, France. The advanced technology applied for the extraction of these delicate molecules from petals, leaves, roots and resins allows us to create exquisite scents that draw upon the limitless imagination of the natural world,” Winder Ton.
Urania (one of the nine Muses, patron of astronomy, Urania was also occasionally used as a byname for Aphrodite.) is the epithet of Aphrodite – ‘a celestial divinity believed to inspire heavenly love, curiosity and imagination. It is said that from her, universal love was born, a free love of cosmic grandeur.’
Through their celestial bottle design, each scent consists of different distinct constellations, motivated by Aphrodite Urania’s devotion to the stars. Aphrodite and her son Eros, who escaped Typhon by transforming into fishes, are commemorated through the pieces constellation.
The creation of a brand that exists through the belief that high perfumery begins in the heavenly garden. The gender-fluid perfume is bottled up to be named Queer Magic, Mandorla, and Lance.
Ton has created a line that promotes mysticality through dynamic ingredients. He plays with whimsical tones that ignite our inner beast and urge us to be wild and free. Ton not only developed magical blends but there is a focus on physicality as well, through the use of natural oils.
Nature gives us botanicals because they can have a direct effect on our limbic system. The process of smelling can literally change our emotions or even trigger fond memories. Lemon and lime help purify and clarify our hectic headspace. Vanilla’s calming properties work towards raising ones’ mood. Taking in the scents of Cumin can remove toxins.
The Genderfluid High Perfumery’s include:
Queer Magic: Kaleidoscope freedom, divine uniqueness, spontaneous, and unconventional.
Opening with bright notes of Cardamon, Brazilian Lime and Calabrian Lemon. The heart is a sensual mix of Jasmine, Carnation, and Figue that transitions elegantly to mystical woods like Palo Santo, Oud, and Sandalwood. Tobacco leaves, Vanilla, and Labdanum notes mystify the base, lending the smell its dark, smokey seductiveness.
Mandorla: Dynamic sensuality, graceful, animalistic
It is a flowery, delicious scent. The fragrance opens with the sparkling notes of Grapefruit, Lemon, and Bay. In the heart, the sensuality of Ylang Ylang, Indian Jasmine, and Tuberose interlaces with exotic notes of Guava Fruit. An earthy hint of Vetiver and Oakmoss cushions an inherently passionate base of Vanilla, Opoponax Resin, and White Musk accords.
A Mandorla is an “almond-shaped” halo that encompasses the entire body, representing the totality and sublime perfection.”
Lance: Bold, transgressive, sophisticated, self-assuredness, elysian, indomitable confidence.
It is an addictive blend of spices with green notes and wood aromas. The fragrance opens elegantly with the exquisite scents of Pear Skin, Cumin and Coriander that then evolve to an intense heart of Smoked Orris, Metallic Rose and Carrot Seeds. It exudes a distinct presence – courageous and interesting – thanks to a fearless base of Cedar, Sandalwood, and Patchouli.
Lance is the steel tip of a wooden spear.
