MILAN FASHION WEEK – AW14 MENSWEAR HIGHLIGHTS

We say goodbye to London now as Milan Fashion Week takes centre fashion stage for the Autumn/Winter 14 menswear shows. Some of our big name favourites and luxury labels are amongst the roster of the typically slick Italian styles we’ve come to love. Check out our round-up of the shows so far below because it will be all about Paris before you know it – fashion moves quick but we’ll help you keep up.
Calvin Klein Collection

Calvin Klein Collection Autumn/Winter 14 Looks
Gold, camel, navy, black. OBSESSION. The usual clean lines of the Calvin Klein Collection were present with slick tailoring and boxy outerwear. A baggy fit on the trousers and large quilting on jackets added volume to this collection of muted separates but it was the slogan sweaters that made reference to the brand’s fragrances from the 80’s and 90’s in a sartorially nostalgic showcase that really tickled our fancy. An undeniable best-seller for next Winter.
Z Zegna
Z Zegna Autumn/Winter 14 Looks
It was the dual-tone outerwear that stood out here with contrast canary yellow and royal navy to deep teal green. It was all about rich Autumnal colours at Z Zegna, cropped trousers and luxe knitwear with this contemporary menswear line. Sleeveless blazers made an appearance as did a stunning blue on black ensemble – a popular colour combination for this season we’ve noticed.
Ermanno Scervino
Ermanno Scervino Autumn/Winter 14 Finale
Ermanno Scervino Autumn/Winter 14 Looks
It was true blues at this show with rich royal blues, navy and airforce blue checks, paired elegantly of course with blacks. Tinted leather derby shoes, pinstripe suits and roll-neck sweaters made up this collection of dapper styles with a modern twist. Satin lapels on evening jackets and retro wide lapels on double-breasted blazers added to the subtle luxury details of the luxury apparel.
Versace
Versace Autumn/Winter 14 Looks
Donatella never holds back and this season’s menswear was about rich bold colours, statement prints and wild west influences. Chapped trousers , embroidered jeans and coloured leathers added to the extravagance and flamboyance of the Versace collection. The cowboy stylings and motorcycle collage ensemble are absolute winners for us as we’re treated to something a little more daring from the Milan shows.
Les Hommes
The Les Hommes show was all about black on black and showing how dynamic this neutral colour can be. There was a great emphasis on texture with leather and animal skin panelling. Monochrome styling with crisp white shirts made the looks even more bold and there was even the odd print such as the stork-print suit in charcoal grey. Slick to say the least and certainly one of our favourite highlights from Milan.

DSquared2 Autumn/Winter 14 Looks
Dean and Dan do like to have fun at their shows with highly styled looks but this season there was a lot of paired down ensembles that were ultimately very clean and contemporary. Cropped trousers were also popular here and the almost clinical style jackets and coats in brilliant white really packed a punch. There was striking orange, another popular colour this season, and fantastic coloured leather accessories such as the bold red doctor’s bag above.
