MOVE: EDITED DESIGNS

If you love design or are simply looking for clever design ideas and inspirations in harmonising, unexpected combinations, here’s one event in Milan that you shouldn’t give a miss. Designjunction at the Salone del Mobile returns in April with EDIT and an incredible line-up of design impresarios.

This edited version of the flagship show in London – with over 20 top-end international brands – will have design pieces that have been carefully curated for display at the Palazzo Morando, where it runs from April 9 to 13, 2014.

Besides new product launches, brand collaborations and one-off installations, the EDIT will feature exhibits by brands such as Modus, Innermost, EOQ, Stellar Works, Utopia & Utility, Resident, Baroncelli and AfghanMade Carpets among others.

The New Zealand-based contemporary lighting and furniture company Resident, launches nine new products, while Michael Young unveils his lighting collection for Hong Kong brand EOQ alongside his new Yi chair. British brand Innermost launches three new products, including Dent 200 – a light fixture, two metres in diameter, with an interlocking cell structure and a custom LED unit of 31 bulbs.

You are sure to find interesting products at Stellar Works that has a series of new products and partners. The brand partners with some of the world’s finest designers – Neri&Hu, Space Copenhagen, Zaha Hadid, Yabu Pushelberg, Borge Mogensen – who share a passion for cultural investigation and natural materials.

You could take home carpets and add some style to your space with AfghanMade Carpets. Collections by Matt Camron, Michaelian & Kohlberg, Oritop, Eliko and Christopher Farr are the highlight at EDIT.

Looking for earth friendly designs? Head to The Green Room, curated and presented by the UKTI Milan, which has eco-sustainable furniture and furnishings made by British companies and designers. Nature inspires Design by Nico. The ‘leaf seat’ set of stools and the writing desk, handmade in Corian and solid oak timber with self-closing drawer system are colour finds to add a dash of colour this spring to your home or office.

Utopia & Utility can charm you with ideas from Africa. They launch a new collection of ‘vessels,’ each piece is formed from individual pieces of soapstone, glass and wood, inspired by the pure African vessels shapes in the British Museum.
