London Design Festival Day 2
By Jo Phillips
Restless Futures at Central St Martins was an inspiration with so much talent i longed to be back studying there ! A few designers really stood out as ones to watch for in the future . Namely a lovely lady Sarah De Costa who i had the pleasure of having a chat with about her ground breaking ‘Microcapsulation’ or rather , the embedding of a drug within a textile. She had a Bra designed by Agent Provocateur for the treatment of Breast Cancer , truly inspirational.
Another designer that i’m sure is going to be huge with her breathtaking jewellery is Ruiyin Lin her collection is both a tribute to the past and a prelude to the future. She has explored a range of digital processes including 3D printing to subvert familiar forms of ethnic jewellery and to question the perceived value of the handmade.
Urban living interiors on Great Portland Street are showcasing five New Young British Designers and again the standard is amazing . This table and bench from @thesourcedesign with its almost Mid Century Modern feel is truly unique and i’m sure it will catch many of the visitors eyes over the Design Festival.
