SKIN: Textures and materials
By Leah Sinclair
Materials are like a second skin, accompanying our favourite things. From tables and chairs, rugs and covers, these things envelope us, add comfort, and can take us to our most relaxed place.
Exploring the world of furniture, materials and design is ‘L’Appartement du Progres,’ an exhibition in Paris which is exploring the myth that sustainable design sacrifices the style of furniture. The exhibition will feature rugs and carpets from Katrien Vermeeren, inspired by her travels to the Middle East and Africa, to London based Danish designer Nina Tolstrup, whos work is inspired by her Scandinavian roots and its minimalist aesthetic.
The exhibition will run until 23rd January 2015, and talks will accompany the exhibition, from four designers who were involved.
This exploration of style in furniture and its different uses is also being explored in Nevoa’s first time exhibit in Paris, at Maison & Objet Paris.
Nevoa has created an exhibition inspired by Portuagese craftsmenship and design, making high quality handmade materials like no other. The selected pieces combine the contemporary and classic, from their VIVID table lamp and much more.
Nevoa’s exhibition runs from 23-27th January 2015.
