London store WeSC is to host the debut exhibition of Thom Bleasdale’s photography from 25 April till 6 June 2013. Entitled ‘A Rare Photograph of the Soul Leaving the Body’, the 29 pieces shown is a reflection of Bleasdale’s idiosyncratic vision of the world as a result of a major illness in his early 20s, which led to a solitary life spanning 6 years long spent cut off from society.
Bleasdale says, ‘I want people to look at my pictures, read the titles and feel something, not necessarily in that order.’
‘The pieces are mainly about my view on life,’ explains the North Devon raised photo-artist and sculptor, ‘and my attempt to convince myself that death isn’t terrifying. Some of the pieces show living to its fullest extent and other pieces demonstrate aspects of life that are often unnoticed, but are much more significant than they first appear.’
