Beauty in the Body
By Jo Phillips
Capturing the beauty of movement has been a common theme of photography for years. Christian Lartillot, a Paris-based photographer working for various prestigious publications such as Inrockuptibles. In this particular project of his, Lartillot has so cleverly captured these organic and liberating images of movement. He asked the dancers to improvise their movements in whichever way they like. The way he has caught this energy is so harrowingly delicate and done so well. It pushes everyone’s pre-conceptions of how dance photography looks and shows a very primal and freeing experience happen. The sculptural figures show a real dedication to movement and the way the dancers act.
