Imitate: Mad About The Boy

Humans strive for youth and so does Fashion. Mad About The Boy at the Fashion Space Gallery in London shows a rather different way of dealing with this specific topic.

The group exhibition curated by Lou Stoppard explores fashion’s constant seeking for youth, in this particular case represented by the figure of the teenage boy. By displaying the “many ideals and notions of the young male that feature in fashion’s imagination – from anarchic rebel, to sexual fantasist, to raver“, visitors get to see works by well-known fashion designers and image-makers such as Raf Simons, J W Anderson, Nick Knight, Larry Clark, Jason Evans, Kim Jones, Meadham Kirchhoff, Tyrone Lebon, Nasir Mazhar, Martine Rose, Gosha Rubchinskiy, Christopher Shannon, Judy Blame, Undercover, Patrick Robyn, Brett Lloyd and more. 
The exhibition will be extended by “a series of fantastical tableaux designed by Tony Hornecker: from a school toilet defaced with graffiti and flyers, to the recreation of the Meadham Kirchhoff SS 2013 Menswear presentation“.

On top of that, recorded statements of designers and photographers who discuss their own memories and personal perception of youth are included alongside multiple editorials, films and select looks from seminal collections. Mad About The Boy will “capture a period of creative and irreverent freedom that the teenage boy embodies“.
