Shirana Shahbazi at Cardi Black Box
Cardi Black Box, the contemporary art gallery in Milan, presents over 60 works by Iranian-German artist Shirana Shahbazi. The exhibition displays both Shabazi’s works created during the early noughties as well as four of her most recent abstract compositions displayed for the first time in public. In recent years Shabazi experimented with print-making, painting and construction, while keeping her usual photography work up. Therefore, she did not only focus on still-life themes but also produced portraitures, landscape work and history painting.
Shirana Shabazi was born 1974 in Tehran and moved to Germany at a young age. After finishing her photography studies in Zurich, Shabazi worked primarily in New York, Berlin and Los Angeles, before moving back to Zurich in Switzerland. Last year she was involved in several group exhibitions in New York, including the “New Photography” exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art.
Shirana Shabazi’s work can be seen now till 26 July 2013 at the Cardi Black Box in Milan.
