Anarchy: Cosmic Explosion

Downtown Supernova by Moritz Waldemeyer and Audi

London-based designer Moritz Waldemeyer has created a cosmic explosion that literally stops traffic at IAA Frankfurt Motor Show 2013. The distinctive project named “Downtown Supernova” is showcased at German automaker Audi’s A8 saloon, where its new A8 model is exhibited for the first time.

Realised by some of Italy’s most talented artisans, the cosmic chandelier is synonymous with the revolutionary brand’s drive for innovation. It is formed by a central aluminium sphere and eighty irregular shards. Although the placement of these shards appears random, they have been produced through a complex mathematical algorithm. To reference Audi’s revolutionary matrix beam headlights, each ray of the chandelier is idiosyncratically controlled. Each shard animates – slowly and subtly morphing to display a variant of warm elegant hues of white.
