Vinti
By Jo Phillips
There is nothing like a little raw insight into a creative’s visual thinking, snapshots of moments that work in their mind’s eye for what they go on to create. Vinti Andrews is a London based contemporary fashion brand formed of the collaboration between Vinti Tan and Paul Andrews. Reconstruction, recycling, and repurposing are at the heart of the brand’s commitment to low impact innovation and originality, fused with Tan and Andrew’s shared influences from British street and music culture, enjoy a bit of Raw Vinti SS/21 here.
For SS21 Vinti Andrews present their collection in a digital format, shot on location in Torbay with an all-local cast and crew – an authentic and honest snapshot of the environment that inspired it.
The Spring/Summer 2021 collection was created against a backdrop of a world in lockdown with the designers using this unique and unprecedented climate to approach their low-impact philosophy with renewed vigour.
Finding freedom in a world full of uncertainty but free from expectation, they set about using recycled fabrics, leftover materials, a pair of found 80’s curtains, garments from local charity shops and repurposed boat sails left behind at the Torquay yacht club.
Decamping from the city to Torquay, the collection is themed around memories of the English coast – summers in Devon by the seaside, all night parties around fires on the beach, waking up with the sun in your eyes, sand and seaweed in your hair…
Memories of the past, finding opportunity in the limitations of the present, and optimism that a better way of doing can lead to a brighter future.
The collection film in full will be shown at 1 pm today on the LFW film collections and find more information and past collections at Vinti Andrew Here. If you enjoy Raw Vinti then why not read Style is Eternal by model Richard Biedel in his own words here
