Bold: Warrior Women
By Jo Phillips
Warrior Women is an exhibition showcasing work of Kate Garner, famous for her unique portraits, hosted by Zebra One Gallery in Hampstead. Apart from classic and reworked photographs, visitors of Zebra One will have a chance to see some exclusive pictures that Garner created while working with new techniques, glazing and diamond dust.
Known from iconic photographs created when working with artists such as Sinead O’Connor and Bjork, Kate Garner owns a really bold personality that reflects in her rich biography. While managed to escape from The Children of God cult, Garner proceeded to both model and photograph for magazines such as i-D and the Face and started a new-wave pop project Haysi Fantayzee. However, after releasing three singles and being touted as the next big thing, the group quickly disbanded and Garner returned to her photographic work.
Since then the photographer’s pictures appeared in magazines such as American and British editions of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, Interview, W Magazine and Elle to name a few. Her photographs showcased in Zebra One Gallery will touch the recent subject of artist’s work – warrior women.
“Warrior Women” will be hosted by Zebra One Gallery from 5 September to 5 October.
