Our theme for May is Tender; exploring the emotions and inspiration that come from kindness, affection and gentleness, as well as how these elements can be infused into all aspects of our lives. Taking this idea and reflecting it into the world of fashion exploring the looks from the Spring Summer 24 catwalks, resulted in looking at how this theme can be very feminine, yet being feminine and gentle doesn’t have to be subtle. Jewelled tones and exaggerated ruffles with peplum and mullet details make up most of this collection from Marques Almeida. Together create an unexpected feminine edge.
This collection from Banke Kuku is infused with bold colours and patterns of floral, flowers and floral always give a feel of affection. Combining this with lace elements creates a contrast of bold yet subtle injections of classic feminine features.
Classic cuts of these dresses are the iconic silhouette of feminity. Homolog Paris uses a floral injection in a more gentle colour palette that creates a beautiful vision of gentleness.
This collection from Rue Agthons collection takes the feminine edge in a more modern twist, lace, pleat details and a pastel colour palette all add a gentle softness to an overall more edgey vision of feminity.
This collection from Simone Rocha is a perfect example of how feminity doesn’t just have to be for women. Bows, lace and floaty cuts all come together to create a bold take on this theme.
Stella McCartney adds a more sexy edge to the feminine look, with classic elements of florals, and lace in a pastel colour palette but using cut-out details and shortcuts to add an edge to this beautiful collection.
Chloe – Pre-Fall
The Pre-Fall collection from Chlóe proves that elegant gowns and bold prints are not the only way to portray the theme of feminity. The collection highlights many elements that are all very wearable looks that can take you from day to night.
Richard Quinn is a master of creating bold outfits and the SS24 collection was no different. Bows, ruffles, and feathers all add to the drama.
Within all these designers collections see different elements to the same theme. Showcasing that the idea of feminity is ever-evolving and can be translated in many different ways.
