11; It’s Beginning to Smell a Lot like Christmas

By Jo Phillips

It’s not just on the festive day that our sense of smell becomes alive with particular scents. All the way through the season we eat drink and make merry building into a crescendo on the 25th of December. Our sense of smell, so powerful, that the moment we get a whiff of Cinnamon, Tangerine and Star Anise we know it’s the Christmas holiday period. Here we celebrate perfumes and explore these notes so familiar with the food we eat during this festive season. From a grind of black Pepper via spicy warming Cardamom and Ginger 11, it’s beginning to smell like Christmas.

Byredo Eyes Close EDP an olfactory experience that emotes connection yet still confounds expectations. Eyes Closed echoes an idea of both the ancient world and the contemporary one in its construction.  Top notes of cinnamon and cardamom, two of the most antique of fragrances, have a primal immediacy redolent of close comfort and warm skin for both men and women. While carrot, orris butter and ginger at once complement the top, yet freshly cut through any notion of cloying – at its heart, this is a modern relationship of equals. A mysterious matching of papyrus and patchouli is at the base, similarly ancient and yet unexpected and modern in their complexity. Anchoring all with a gravitas, both compelling and cocooning.

27 87 Mosaique A cold smoky vibe infused with the mystical sweetness of honey, plum, and ylang-ylang juxtaposed with clean roasted cocoa, leather, and oak moss. A unique mosaic of ancient traditions and contemporary tribal rhythms. It opens with

This mystical blend holds both protective and purifying powers. Notes include Bergamot, White Sage, Lavender
Plum, Palo Santo, Black Pepper Sandalwood, and Agarwood
