We can’t always have the clothes from the biggest names in fashion but by association, we can at least get close via a perfume. From mid-summer to the early Autumn months expect to see some newness in the perfumed world, yup our noses are twitching so find out more in about a handful of new releases here in Smells like New News. Below are a handful of new scent releases for you to ponder or better still go and sniff.
Light blue forever pour femme Dolce and Gabbana EDP
The fragrance opens with Light Blue’s signature opens with fresh and fruity top notes of crisp Granny Smith apple and tangy Calabrian lemon, extracted using the traditional “sfumatrice” technique which allows the lemon to be expressed in its entirety.
The sunny weather continues into the heart with a new bright, sunny floral heart of orange blossom and voluptuous white flowers. Think of a sun-soaked Italian bouquet. It drops into a base of Virginia cedar and soft skin caressing cashmere woods, all enveloped by a seductive caress of white musks. A soft sexy and sunkissed sunshine of a scent.
Continuing with its legacy of Light Blue fragrances, echoing the clear waters of the Mediterranean, bright vibrant turquoise lightened by sunshine. The turquoise glass is maintained; think of those beautiful Mediterranean sun rays as they shimmer on the clear blue waves.
A Drop d’Issey, Issey Miyake
Almond milk is explored in the new A Drop d’Issey, Issey Miyake Eau de Parfum for women, an invitation, to discover the beauty and poetry hidden in nature. A perfume with a floral, solar lilac signature perceived through the lens of a musky note and a hint of the forementioned almond milk accord.
The top note of the fragrance is delicately floral with pure, clear, damask rose. The perfume’s middle notes magnify the enveloping fragrance of solar lilac with hints of almond milk and ethically sourced orange flower. The base notes round out the fragrance with a musky accord of upcycled cedarwood atlas and vanillin.
Interestingly in this scent Lilac is recreated by talented noses as the flower itself has no smell so it’s the creator’s imagination and skill that bring this particular flower to life here. Perfumer Ane Ayo imagined a modern lilac – a full-bodied fragrance, a marriage between nature and technology. Combining natural and synthetic ingredients, this solar lilac was created using green chemistry with the most innovative technical processes, while protecting the lilac flower by eliminating the need to harvest it.
And the beautiful circular clear bottle? Its made up of 5% recycled glass, the drop-shaped bottle is designed to be laid flat.
NARCISO Neroli Ambree
Also as an ode to the power of the sun, as well as Almond Milk comes NARCISO Eau neroli ambrée. Light and sensual capturing through a synthesis of radiant floral facets. It bursts opens with Neroli Oil, and delicate sweet Frangipani Flowers, a coming together of an Almond Milk Accord whilst moves to its heart to exploring sensual Musc, with honey rich Orange Blossom. Landing in the base find soft sexy woods of Cedarwood, Cashmeran, and an Amber Accord setting a sensual musc note. Let’s just say soft sexy and seductive.

Lastly for ladies comes Alien Goddess Mugler
Alien Goddess, the new Mugler perfume from the Alien collection, targets Generation-Z; a younger population yet to meet Mugler as a brand. Willow Smith, the daughter of Will Smith and Jadae Pinkett Smith who is a singer and actress, has been chosen to embody a new vision of femininity that is at once strong, powerful, inclusive and “edgy”. The campaign was directed by Emmanuel Adjei and photographed by Txema Yeste.
The Alien Goddess bottle retains the shape of the original Alien fragrance, launched in 2005, but in a golden colour. The scent itself is made up of bergamot essence, jasmine grandiflorum SuperInfusion, Madagascar Bourbon vanilla and a note of cashmere. It was created by perfumers Nathalie Lorson and Marie Salamagne as a next-generation scent.
As the seasons move towards a softer sun finds fragrances that still celebrate our golden obe but comes with a softer sexier warming edge.
