Imagine being transported into a world where dreams and luxury combine, where every scent tells a story as vivid and captivating as a piece of art, or as personal as a couture dress. One of the biggest stories of the latest sweet of fashion shows for 2025 was when the new creative director of Valentino, Alessandro Michele, showed his first collection. Outside of fashion is the ‘Anatomy of Dreams’ fragrance collection, which has also just arrived, and explores scent in the same way a couture dress is created. What is Haute Couture? Well, it’s a French term that literally means ‘High Sewing’, but we know it as clothes that are made specifically for a single person, fitted and made to measure their exact sizing. It is the very height of luxury in the world of fashion. It involves using the most luxurious of fabrics, the highest of skilled technicians and the very eloquence of design

So how does this translate into the world of perfumery? Drawing inspiration from the Haute Couture, which brings life to fabric through masterful craftsmanship, the Valentino new perfumery collection, composed of seven exquisite fragrances, captures the essence of luxury, transporting wearers to a realm of imagination and opulence, where scent and design unify in an extraordinary explosion of olfactive sensations.

The Italian Maison Valentino has launched a new collection composed of seven exclusive fragrances entitled ‘Anatomy of Dreams’, paying homage to the brand’s origins and cultural heritage.

In fact, the storytelling behind the brand-new perfume selection is inspired by the hedonistic spirit of Rome, where the Maison was first founded in 1960. Created by Valentino Garavani when he opened the fashion house on Via Condotti in Rome, Italy, and over the years the brand created womenswear for both couture and ready-to-wear.

Inspired by the Italian Maison Haute Couture’s tradition of creative exclusive and unique pieces of design, the new fragrances’ collection embodies the true essence of luxury, craftsmanship and artistry.

Much like couture garments, ‘Anatomy of Dreams’ is a sensory masterpiece that offers an authentic sensorial journey of infinite creativity and endless possibilities, enclosed by symbolic glass bottles with iconic silhouettes that echo Valentino’s design ethos.

Each perfume differentiates itself from the others and evokes different olfactive sensations and emotions, yet every perfume captures the allure and opulence usually associated with Haute Couture, each nose behind the different elixirs is like the perfect pattern cutter guiding their ‘scissors’ to create the perfect facets set of notes. Each perfume a ‘dress’ crafted out of the best ingredients, lovingly blended and bottled.

‘Sogno in Rosso’, literally meaning ‘dream in red’, symbolises the theatrical elegance evoking a dream in a private theatre, from its ruby red velvet curtains to its wooden stage, with a Spicy Oriental fragrance. This dream is also recalled by the vibrant red perfume’s bottle. The nose behind this fragrance is Fabrice Pellegrin. The top notes are Juniper Berries, Black Pepper and Petitgrain; the middle notes are Milk, Orange Blossom and Olibanum; the base notes are Bourbon Vanilla, Madagascar Vanilla, Sandalwood and Ambergris.

‘Notte D’Oro’, literally ‘golden night’, characterised by the warm orange bottle, is an Oriental Woody fragrance and encapsulates the dream of a baroque banquet room, where the senses of taste, smell, and vision collide. This fragrance has been developed by Paul Guerlain. The main aromas are Black Cherry, Sweet Orange and Grapefruit; the middle aromas are Rose Oil, Geranium and Indian Jasmine; the base aromas are Agarwood (Oud), Patchouli and Sandalwood.

‘L’Innocence de L’Air’, meaning the innocence of the air”, in a vanilla coloured perfume bottle, is a Floral fragrance that takes the wearer into a romantic garden, developed by Nathalie Larson. The mix of aromatic notes is composed by Green Mandarin and Angelica; Ambrette, Rose and Damask Rose; Suederal and Musk.

‘Private Talk’, in its bright orange bottle, is an Oriental Floral fragrance and represents a private staircase, born silent yet witness to generations of hushed conversations and stolen moments. The nose being Nicolas Bonneville. The primary scent is Ginger; followed by Cappuccino, Indian Tuberose, Tuberose and Ylang-Ylang; and as base notes White Musk, Sandalwood and Virginia Cedar.

‘Club Couture’, presented in a pastel pink bottle, is a Chypre Fruity fragrance that transports the wearer to a fitting salon. ‘Club Couture’ was created by Carlos Benaim and Andrew Everett. Top scents are Bitter Orange, Bergamot and Mandarin; middle scents are Fig, Orange Blossom and Orris; base scents are Cedar, Musk and Patchouli.

The edgy and rebellious spirit of the ‘Punk Romantic’ is an Oriental Woody fragrance in a dark violet bottle that makes us live a dream on a Roman roof. The nose behind this fragrance is Fanny Bal. The perfume comprehends touches of Black Pepper; Olive Tree and Juniper Berries; Bourbon Vanilla, Madagascar Vanilla, Musk and Sandalwood.

Lastly, a bright green perfume bottle encapsulate ‘Behind the Seen’, a Woody Spicy fragrance that evokes a dream in the private scenario of a hidden room. ‘Behind the Seen’ was created by Delphine Lebeau and Anne Flipo. The primary scent is Turmeric; with the addition of Geranium, Hazelnut and Orris as middle notes; and Vetiver, Cedar and Sandalwood as base notes.

Furthermore, just like limited and exclusive couture garments, the price of these fragrances reflects the high-end, luxurious nature associated with Valentino’s couture and the work of artisanal expertise and craftsmanship behind all the house’s creations.
