Silk: Battle between subject matter, materials and image.

Writhe & Jerk features five artists at the Transition Gallery who enjoy small battles with painting. Those ‘battles’ occur between image, subject matter, materials and a mental and physical battle to make the painting become foreign, almost alien like – something from somewhere else.

The way the artists us the material and combine it to create something new made us think about skin – the theme of this month.

Rachel Busby, Gordon Dalton, Terry Greene, Brendan Lancaster and Sarah McNulty put up quite a fight from 17th January until 15th February.
