That winter chill is here, the feeling when cold literally bites and manages somehow to work its way through every layer of knitwear till it reaches to chill our bones. Yes those damp cold winter days have set in. So outside of wearing copious layers is there a way we can literally warm up from the inside out? Well one way of surviving the bitter days to come is to have a seasonal spa treatment that warms not just the body but through to your very soul.
Modderhsall Oaks lies in a lush green countryside setting. The building, made of bricks and scattered with wooden A frames, creates an immediate relaxing warmth and homeliness alongside its elegant and modern decor. Each season the team create seasonal treatments to deal with the bodies need to acclimatise to whatever adverses the season has to offer. Moddershall Oaks is a wonderful spa destination set within 72 acres of picturesque Staffordshire countryside. Its destination makes it ideal for those who wish to travel up from London or is a short trip for those based in the Midlands yet not far either for those based in the Northern parts of the UK, and still manages to it also an international crowd. The spa features many wonderful attractions for those that don’t necessarily want just a specific treatment.
Firstly there are the suites; each are made up of not just a generous double bed, replete with plump pillows, a full bathroom with Elemis products, a big towelling robe to potter about in, a banquet seating section leading to patio with wooden decking, a bench and table that look out to countryside. The rooms are certainly akin to any good five star internationally renowned hotel room. the decor has a touch of Arabian styling with hanging globe shaped metal lights by each side of the bed. In the wing where the bedrooms are situated is a mini (four to six seater) Jacuzzi should you feel like a personal hot tub experience.
One of the best features of the whole spa is the big outside 25sqm heated vitality spa pool. Nothing is quite like being greeted with a glass of Prosecco and getting into the lovingly warm hot tub drinking a cool glass of fizz whilst feeling freshness on your face. Right by the pool is the Kelo sauna which means popping from pool to sauna makes for a extra treat. There is also a cold shower should you want the whole hot cold/hot experience. The setting allows for the most wonderful of views and towards the end of the day as the sun sets it is the most wonderful place to sit warm drink in hand and watch the sun go down.
There is additionally an outside fireplace (which backs onto the quiet room) so guests can indulge in a hot drink by an authentic log fire in the quiet room complete with sofa and blankets for those who just fancy an afternoon snooze.
Should guests prefer to be inside there is a fully heated pool replete with divine heated tiled loungers, a hydrotherapy pool with big jets (great for self massage) alongside a small reflexology bath for you feet. Also housed in the complex is a steam room, which again allows for the hot, cold, hot treatment of going from pool to steam to hydrotherapy pool.
The spa also hosts two areas for eating. The main reception leads to a snack area for lunchtime salads and snacks as well as hot drinks afternoon tea and drinks. The other is a evening dinning room (where guests also go for breakfast). There is a small but perfectly formed cocktail menu with the most popular drink being the Bramble Cocktail..a blackberry and Gin mixture with added Creme De Mure served over crushed ice.
Then the menu offers a small selection of dishes from meat to poultry to fish and vegetarian dishes all with locally sourced produce. Starters include items like baked cod with crab fritter and sweetcorn purée or Chicken liver parfait with onion marmalade toasted brioche, followed by Serling steak with peppercorn sauce and triple cooked chips with baked tomatoes and garlic mushroom or lamb with root vegetables. There is also a selection of desserts but should a guest wish to return and rest in their own rooms a selection of DVD’s are available to borrow from reception, so if a night in bed watching a good film is your thing then know its all set up at Modershall Oaks.
Breakfast involves natural yogurt fresh fruit pastries and a selection of full english plates or versions of poached eggs with hollandaise.
One of the other real benefits of going out of a city to somewhere like Moddershall Oaks is the setting. The grounds provide ample room for walking have a replete with an outside pond and are also marked with a trail that leads through the woods and back to the house allowing for a quiet slow or brisk walking. For the warmer months of the year the grounds also have a a spectacular tennis court.
Already a popular weddings location due to its romantic lakeside setting and fine food, in 2015, Moddershall Oaks further embraced the outside by creating a dreamy outdoors wedding venue for outdoors ceremonies. Complete with a handmade oak gazebo and even state-of-the-art Bose sound system sets Moddershall Oaks has become an even more successful weddings venue.
