Fantasy: Pink Makes the Boys Wink
By Jo Phillips
Pink. It makes the boys wink.
This is STILL a reality, not yet a fantasy… and thank goodness, for some of our favourite beauty brands have gone pink crazy this January in celebration of this year’s “official” colour; Radiant Orchid.
Artistic Director of Givenchy Cosmetics Nicolas Degennes says; “After a whirlwind few weeks in New York, London and Milan I have finally had some time to reflect on the top beauty trends from the SS14 shows. Next summer will be about a natural, effortless, youthful, healthy beauty with splashes of colour on the lips and eyes.”
Clearly this is what he had in mind when he created the SS14 range “Over Rose;” for it really is a feast for the eyes/lips/cheeks. Particularly with the introduction of the hero Prismissime Euphoric Pink Lip and Cheek Palette (pictured here),
The palette offers nine new shades: Passionate, Loving, Youthful, Romantic, Tender, Childlike, Aphrodisiac, Sentimental and Dreamer. Additional products in the collection include: Rouge Interdit Shine lipstick, Le Vernis nail polish, the Mister Eraser Imperfection Correcting Pen, and the Prisme Yeux Quatuor eyeshadow palette.
Equally pink, and equally pretty, is the French Ballerine collection from Lancome features Lily Collins (yes, she of Phil Collins’ dynasty) as their face for the new season, and a very beautiful one at that.
Wearing the fresh pastel tones of the range, which features a waterproof eyeliner, waterproof Doll Eyes mascaras, a gorgeous eyeshadow (Hypnose) palette, nail polish and a select of Lancome’s “Gloss in Love” lip products; Lily looks the epitome of French Beauty – delicate, confident and free-spirited. The collection even features a cheeky nod to the Ballerina’s essential uniform – the satin ribbon.
Swedish cosmetics brand Make Up Store has introduced their take on Radiant Orchid, with the new “Fusion collection.”
It’s actually not available until March which is when Spring officially gets sprung but we got a quick overview of what will be available; products include Pink Mascara, Pink Panther Lipstick, Venus High Tech Lighter (pictured below), Sheer slimeline lipstick, Volcano Eyeshadow and Sheer Jelly Lipstick.
Whilst last but not least, mineral based makeup brand BareMinerals has unveiled True Romantic, a limited edition spring colour collection in custom rose gold components, which will launch in time for Valentine’s Day.
The range includes their cult sellers Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss, Lip liner and Lipstick, as well as blusher, and eyeshadow.
Prizes available to those who spot the most boys with a sudden unexplained eyelid affliction.
