Serge Lutens (born 1942 Lille, France) is a pioneer not just in French fashion, hairdressing, and make-up but in the early days of niche perfumery.

Launching in the year 2000, was his own legendary brand ‘Parfums-Beaute Serge Lutens’ which has gone on to be considered groundbreaking. And over the last 23 years he has gone on to inspire the world of fragrance with elixir after elixir and in 2022 came Parole d’Eau. A perfume, one of three, that celebrated the simplicity of a ritual focussed on morning essentials; water, bath and… a little spritz of perfume.

So back to that lagoon, with its water notes fussed with Pine needles, fallen from the surrounding herbaceous fresh trees, and the camphoraceous almost minty notes from notes of lively Eucalyptus Leaves, add in a burst of fresh lemon, and you have caught the scent.

These new hand and body wash alongside hand and body lotion are part of the Matin Lutens Collection. The line initially included three eaux fraîches inspired by his childhood, especially the morning cleaning rituals, bathing, clean cotton and cocooning home.

Starting with l’Eau Serge Lutens, described thus: From under the iron wafts steam that smells of freshly laundered clothes. Parole d’Eau explores, water, colourless and odourless by definition, yet an eau can conceal a deep and discreet fragrance. And finally, Dans le Bleu Qui Petille of which is said: First your hands, then your arms, and finally the head, close your eyes and take a deep dive!

Now all three are avaiable in a hand and body cleaning gel as well as a body lotion. So start the day with a scented washing gel, to revive and uplift you, then moisturise with a texture, that envelops the skin in an ever-so-light veil of invisible softness. Use this lotion before a sharp spritz of scent.

Lutens himself recommends using this product prior to spraying with the fragrance to prolong the pleasure and effect, the body care line has been designed to embrace the interconnectivity between smell and touch.
