From 3rd July until September 2014 Mat Collishaw, key figure in the important generation of British artists, will exhibit his new work at the Galleria Borghese in Rome – one of Rome’s most prestigious museums.
‘The Black Mirror’ will be accompanied by a catalogue, including installation photographs of the works in the gallery and a twenty-five minute film funded by the British council in Rome. It is part of Contemporary Assignments, a project carried on in the last years at Galleria Borghese consisting of ten exhibitions, each highlighting an artist whose work is prominent in the gallery’s historic collection.

The project aims to enhance the experience of viewing the collection’s masterpieces by incorporating the interventions of contemporary artists. This approach facilitates a fresh perspective on historic artworks, while simultaneously promoting the work and broadening the audience of contemporary art.
To help raising funds for this project Mat has produced a limited edition photogravure which is on sale before the actual exhibition starts. Images of this will be up shortly.
