SWING: Framing Fireflies

Debuting his first solo exhibition in the UK since 2010, French artist and filmmaker Philippe Parreno presents With a Rhythmic Instinction to be Able to Travel Beyond Existing Forces of Life at Pilar Corrias Gallery.

The exhibition showcases a new film assembled from hundreds of drawings created by Parreno over the last four years, with each drawing depicting the same insect: a firefly.

The animated film is a recollection of this illustrated insect, as each individual drawing creates a separate frame within the series of images.

Throughout his practice, Parreno has redefined the exhibition experience by exploring its possibilities as a coherent “object” and a medium in its own right rather than as a collection of individual works, and continues to do so with his latest exhibition available to the public from October 15th.
