The Scent of Freedom

By Keny Kakadia

Blue represents both the sky and the sea and is correlated with open spaces, freedom, imagination, inspiration, and sensitivity. Blue also represents meanings of depth, wisdom, confidence, stability, heaven, and intelligence. In this hard time of the pandemic, we need the strength to face them, which can be extracted from the colour. The scent of Freedom has a fresh new fragrance inspired by the BLUE colour. it offers their admirers two exquisite perfumes which symbolise Blue in a very thoughtful way. Images Jason Yates

The First Perfume is, Jo Loves created by JO Malone CBE is truly inspired by blue-sky with the notion that there are limitless opportunities even in these challenges we faced in 2020. Jo Malone her self is the symbol of confidence, inspiration and freedom. In 1963 the woman responsible for creating some of the world’s most-loved fragrances was Jo Malone. She begins her journey with Jo Malone London. She gained global cult status with the launch of her eponymous brand, In 1999, she sold the business to Estée Lauder Companies and remained Creative Director until she left in 2006. But her passion for fragrance never subsided and in 2011 she was ready to once again take the world by storm with her new brand, Jo Loves, an innovative scent, bath, body and candle collection inspired by the memories and moments in life that she loves.

Jo Loves Cobalt Patchouli & Cedar Reflects on the challenges we faced in 2020 she wanted to create a fragrance that represented our innate resilience, our strength of character and our ability to not only overcome obstacles but use them as a springboard to come out even stronger than before. This fragrance is true to Jo’s signature style it contains Cobalt Patchouli Blue Grapefruit, Geranium& Cedar. The scent is a fresh, truly uplifting cologne scent with clean, crisp air. Powerful base notes give this fragrance a unique intensity, while the classic notes of vetiver, patchouli and cedarwood take on an eclectic twist to create a captivating new scent.

After a year of lockdown and isolation, I am longing for that moment of liberation and freedom to live life again. Aren’t you? This fragrance is all about getting ready for that moment. To look up and allow myself to dream really big again and for blue-sky thinking to flood my imagination. It captures a series of notes that tell stories of the happy, carefree moments that will return – Jo Malone CBE

Perfume Launches on 4th March at Joloves.com and Space NK. Launches 1st April at Cult Beauty. A limited number of 100ml fragrances will be available in an exclusive bottle designed by artist Natasha Murray. She got to graduate from Leeds Arts University. Jo instantly felt the connection between Natasha’s designs and the new Cobalt Patchouli & Cedar fragrance; we went from there and commissioned Natasha to create our own design that we could use on the Limited Edition packaging. The Cobalt Blue design was inspired by the notion of limitless opportunities and the excitement of the unknown.

Coming to the other inspiring fragrance refers to the Mediterranean and its lifestyle, but also a contemporary take on Greco-Roman art and culture. Eros Eau de Parfum embodies excess and provocation. A fragrance that is not afraid to flaunt itself, to reveal its extremes: the stark contrast between the intensely citrus and the intensely delicate. Eros is most normally addressed with a bow and a limitless number of bolts which he uses to overwhelm the explanation and affect sensual emotions in any human or god per Aphrodite’s or his own desire. Once, however, he coincidentally scratched himself with a bolt – and that is the way he fell head over heels in love for Psyche, who will later turn into his significant other forever.

“I envisioned a heroic, passionate man, almost a Greek god.
The fragrance is made up of notes that express sensuality and power, an extreme force” – Donatella Versace

A new chapter is revealed in the depth of its woody accord, cedar vetiver patchouli, rekindled by the radiant, energetic light of the quintessentially Italian lemon and mandarin and enlivened by a unique note of candied apple. Decadent vanilla dares to flirt with leather in the final note: a fatal and provocative weapon with its distinctive intoxicating and creamy effects, its vibrant contours, all enhancing its oriental character.

The new scent radiates a powerful sense of calm, representing freedom, intuition, imagination and inspiration. Exudes celebration, enthusiasm, and a new-found intensity for enjoying life in this New Normal.
